Seriously, put her in a sling and vacuum away, whether she’s asleep or awake. The vacuum is soothing to babes together with your motion. And life and housework goes on (dang it!) and it can all be Ellie time! It’s all good.

As she gets older & sleep becomes more difficult to achieve (hard to believe, isn't it? but this time it'll be due to stubbornness on her part & not just sheer baby-ness) you'll need to make noise while she's asleep and so you want to start practicing now with her. when I first brought the Munch to daycare, a sneeze woke him up - about 2 months into it I went to pick him up & there he was, totally zonked out on his nap mat, and the daycare provider's husband was drilling a new lock on the front door in the next room over w/ a power drill. NOISY!!!!! Munch didn't even *twitch*. It was heaven. Now I know that the door can accidentally slam closed due to the wind, the dog can bark, the doorbell can ring, the DVD can suddenly get loud, etc - and he can sleep through all of it!
