First Square

Here’s your square. It was a nice change of pace.

And here is my practice top!

Simplicity 2931, here’s another view.

It’s too big because sewing patterns LIE about what size they are supposed to fit. I guess that’s why you’re supposed to make a cheap one (a muslin) first. At any rate, I learned a lot and the next one will be better!

CUTE top!!! I would love to know how to sew…especially since I need another hobby! LOL!!

    Beautiful square #1! :)

I like the fit of the new top – nice, loose and comfy!!

Cute top! And yes those patterns lie. I always have such a hard time trying to decide what size to make. I just finished a pair of too big pajama pants.

    Nice top!

Very cute top – it does not look too big, just cool and floaty. Will be great for hot weather. And yes, I just hate trying to figure out what kind of “ease” they’ve built into the pattern. There should be a ravelry for sewers… hmm…

Great job on your cute summer top! It really doesn’t look overly huge in the photo, just comfortable. But it probably feels a little airy, huh? I don’t know what the deal is with pattern companies and their sizing. They have always been that way. I like to measure the actual pattern before cutting to see which size I need to make. Keep on sewing! And congratulations of Square 1 in 2009. ;)

Is that pin-tucking? Adorable!! If I had 10 of those with capris to co-ordinate, I’d never have to wonder what to wear!

    Congrats on your square!

I love the new top. I wouldnt have guessed there was anything to be critical of. Counterpane hurricane ……where’s your brain ???

  9. Sydney Says:

Cute top! I haven’t sewn any clothes in a while but I remember that problem. The size you think you wear is always too big.
