Mysterious Socks

I should have posted these on Monday but you know how it is…

My Sock Yarn Addicts Club Sock Pal Socks Arrived on Saturday! Woot!

orange red and brown and yellow

From Ariel. Aren’t the cards cute? Where do y’all find such fun things?

They are beautifully made and fit perfectly! I also really like the pattern: Lava Flow Socks by Sockbug. The colors are thrilling (I love bright socks). But the hands down best part of the socks is that they are made from some Mysterious Chinese Yarn. I’m not kidding. The label is in Chinese and neither one of us can read Chinese. Here is a close up of the ball band in case any of y’all read Chinese and can enlighten the rest of us. The “handwash” symbol is clear enough! Thank you so much, Ariel! I know I will enjoy wearing these as much as I’ve enjoyed looking at them as soon as it isn’t 93° outside!

The sock is going well. The shawl is not. We got a total of ZERO raindrops from Alberto. Not that we are especially close to where he was going, but I had hoped for a little bit to tamp the dust down. I think we are on the way to a “No Outside Watering” situation. At least the grass won’t need to be mowed for a while.

PS Today is Flag Day!

Wish I’d known you didn’t get any rain from Alberto….would have sent you a bucket or two from Trussville!! Cute socks and cards!! I have never seen yarn from China!!

  2. Leah

I’ve been meaning to try that pattern! So cute!

The question, in addition to what the label says, is where did your sock pal find the yarn?

Yay for Chinese mystery socks!! They’re awesome and remind me of a chinese dragon or some kind of chinese paper lantern or something. So cool!

Chinese mystery socks! Woohoo! Yarn is incredibly hard to get by in China / TaiWan.. Silk yarn yes, but sock yarn? I adore them 🙂
I will press my thumbs for your shawl, after all it is a very simple repeating pattern – rip it out to the last correct repeat and churn on. Or, make it a habit to put in a lifeline every 4th row when you KNOW the row has no mistake in it, makes ripping so much less likely to give you a heart attack. (A lifeline is a sturdy thinnish (crochet cotton) thread threaded through all stitches on the needle. Carefull not to knit into the lifeline when knitting the next row *grin*.
    Have a nice day

Wow! And I thought Noro labels were bad! LOL! Great socks though btw. About the rain, we had 20 mins of 30-50 mph winds and really hard rain and then it was gone like a dream! That was it. Very weird feeling.

    Those socks are adorable!!
We are supposed to see some of the remnants of Alberto this weekend – we need some rain here too.

Our beach vacation ended just before the rainfall from this storm! I love the colors of your chinese sock yarn! Hope you can find someone to read that label…

Love the socks, the color is so fun!

I heard someone was on watering restriction, but i don’t remember where. Hopefully we will get a bunch this weekend. Too bad I don’t want it to rain because my friends and I are headed to the beach!

I am so with you on Alberto…we did get rain, but not enough. Most of the local fires are out, and it’s been a few weeks since they’ve closed the interstate here, but we could use more rain (non-huricane rain if possible).

The ball band is great, the sheep almost have a ferret look to them.

Great sock! The color name is quite apt.

The possibility of not having to mow the lawn is almost enough to make me root for a drought, personally. Screw environmental equilibrium.
