Dough Disaster

I have spent the last few days trying out all of my arts and crafts projects for camp. The only one that is really giving me trouble is the dough/clay/sculpture recipe. I need one that the kids don’t have to paint. I’ve been through four test batches and this morning hit on the idea of coloring the dough with kool-aid. It works for yarn, right? And it would smell fruity and delicious! I tried it with my next batch (a bake-to-harden recipe). Unfortunately, kool-aid does not do well in the oven.

That used to be a piggy, a kitty, a pumpkin and a bunny.

I ate 4 mini Milky Ways to console myself (I feel a little ill). Then I found two more recipes to try. At least the macaroni looks great!

For the 3-4s necklaces. Tip: tape one end of their string to the table so all of the beads don’t come off when more are put on.

Oh, and some of my sock yarn is here!

Lorna's Laces and Claudia's

Lorna’s Laces Shepherd Sock in “Pioneer” and “Purple Iris” and Claudia’s in “Donna’s Favorite.”

Between you and me, I don’t remember ordering the Purple Iris. I mean, it’s purple, brown and green. All of those together in one yarn. That just doesn’t sound like a combination that would make me say “Oooh, pretty!”

Maybe not having sock yarn in so long has clouded my ordering skills?

PS Leah wrote to say she used Purple Iris on her first (FIRST) Clapotis. Having seen her picture, I feel much better about the whole thing!
