I forgot to mention that Michael has been uploading all his iPhone photos of the trip to his flickr stream. THere aren’t that many so far, but he also made a little video of Opening Circle (long and probably boring for you, but there it is).
Hello, Muddah! Hello, Faddah!
You remember how we were going to fly to Virginia this year? Well. At the last minute, minds were changed and we ended up driving. For those of you who are keeping score, Google says that it takes 11 hours to get from south Alabama to Virginia. It took us about 13 – there was an unscheduled stop at the Mayfield Dairy in Tennessee for ice cream. We were in the car for a looooong time. Long enough for a single Mary Esther sock
Sock-on-the-dashboard pose shamelessly stolen from Teyani.
to acquire a mate.
I finished the toe (it’s not grafted) as we pulled up to VT.
The pictures are courtesy of Mr. Pink (here’s a bonus William Henry I found in there). I brought the digital camera, but neglected to bring the camera cable which means that these are the best visuals you’ll get until Saturday! I’ll see about getting pictures of the art projects I am doing with the kids since I didn’t have time to show you before hand. And I will certainly take a picture of Bethany’s yarn and there are some knitting books in the book store – someone must be teaching a workshop.
Remember, you’ve got until tonight to get your Dish Rag Stacks photographed, posted and reported!

LBJ
Lady Bird’s namesake passed away yesterday. She took the news OK (tuna is a great consolation to her).
tribbles
Knit scrubby pattern (a.k.a. The Tribble). From Abigail, of course! Thanks for the tip, Colleen.
jolly postman
Getting mail is always an event, but for deployed troops it can be the highlight of someone’s day. Take a minute to email a Marine. The address is in the post.
Less Than
I will be the first to admit that I have not been at the Top of My Game lately. The Mad Camp Craft Planning Spree hasn’t improved the situation and there is House Cleaning hanging over my head. I am ashamed to admit that I have not ironed the facings of the polo yet (which means that it will not be going with me next week). I did manage to make my half of the starter dishrags.
Abigail made the other half aaaages ago.
While I was taking this picture, I got to wondering how many hand made dishrags other people have. Dishrag knitting is a side project for me so I only have about three that are officially In Use. It’s this sort of rampant curiosity that leads us to our First Dish Rag Tag Preliminary Event:
How Many Handmade Dish Rags Are In Your House?
- This event is open to anyone with the ability to post a picture somewhere on the internet.
- All you have to do is take a picture of your personal in-house Dish Rag Stack, post it and leave me a link in the comments on this entry. Please also mention how many dish rags appear in the picture so that I don’t have to count!
- Whoever can round up the the most hand made dish rags wins some fabulous yarn (I am told that it is well suited to a scarf project) generously provided by Darlene!
- The deadline for submissions is next Monday. At that time, I will consult my notes and the evidence to determine who really is the Dish Rag Queen (or King).
iPhone
In case you weren’t able to get one of your own: a knit iPhone.

They are my favorite comedy duo of All Time. (PS Gracie is darning socks.)

You know how much I like cats who blog. This one is running for president.
