Soak up the Sun

My Bloomin’ Feet have arrived!

feeties

Please focus on the beautiful stitches and ignore the un-mown grass.

When I got the box out of the mailbox and saw that the return address was Simply Socks Yarn Company I got excited because I figured it was yarn I had forgotten that I ordered. But I discovered something even better: Allison is my Bloomin’ Feet Pal! The socks above are Koigu and fit like a dream. I thought that particular pleasure was forever lost to me, but many Kind Readers have told both Allison and I that machine wash cold (no dryer, of course) will not do them any harm. I am thrilled with this news because (as I have just now discovered) Koigu really is All That. I am especially fond of the subtle variegations in the yarn – you can have both a multi-colored yarn and complicated stitch patterns in one sock! Who knew?

Allison also enclosed some Lorna’s Laces Nearly Solid in Margarita, Simply Socks special Lorna’s color and some cookies.

lime!

Again, your attention should be focused anywhere but the grass.

I love the Margarita (for one thing: it’s green, for another: it’s Lorna’s Laces) and I have already planned the finished socks: they will have a white edging – for the salt. In a miraculous collaboration between the Alabama sun and my black mail box, the cookies arrived in fresh-out-of-the-oven condition. I ate the warm and gooey chocolate chip immediately. The box in the picture contains half a sugar cookie. I have no self control.

Since there are no cookie pictures, here is one of Betty and William Henry attempting to develop similar fresh-out-of-the-oven goodness.

warm and gooey

Bake 12 minutes or until golden brown.

Beautiful socks and a great BF package! Enjoy your Koigu socks. I have my first pair on the needles so I understand totally how wonderful the yarn is.

Okay, now you’ve got me wanting beautiful hand knit socks, warm gooey cookies and a sun-kissed kitty to cuddle!!

    Enjoy them all 🙂

Great socks! Allison did a fine job. How lucky of you to have fresh out of the oven, er, mailbox cookies! Yum.

I’m looking forward to seeing your Margarita socks. I would never have thought of the white for the salt bit, but I think it’s brilliant!

I’m still cracking up that it’s possible you could have forgotten you ordered yarn from Simply Sock Yarn?? hehehe She made beautiful socks for you! Hooray for you both that they fit so perfectly! Snuggly socks are so awesome. 🙂

Oh, gotta love that margarita colorway too. I’ve been thinking of something similar myself!

I think the grass is just fine. I know three fellas who would love to roam there, in the wild… (They would be my guinea-grass-eating-pigs).

The blooming feet socks are so lovely, the colour is adorable.

They are all so lovely! The socks, the yarn, and the kitties. You are a lucky girl.

Ha! Allison was my Toasty Toes Pal that knit for me! She rocks it hard, no? Ya know that there is more more sock wearing opportunity in the Pacific Northwest than South Alabama, right? (AND you KNOW I am not dissing South Alabama- I could not ever do that. I love it there so very much. Not mentioning SEC football here, nope.) Kitties are adorable. WHH is so big now. Le sigh.

The Koigu socks are beautiful! I have washed my Koigu socks in cold water in the machine many times without a problem. I don’t put any of my socks in the dryer though. I love that Margarita colorway too. WH and Betty look like they’re almost done. 🙂

love the socks. Allison did a great job (lawn is totally being ignored here, because it looks alot like mine 🙂
Love the new yarn . can’t wait to see it with a frothy white top.. (just wait til I tell you MY marguaritta story from last weekend. arrgh)
Cookies fresh from the mailbox – I’m on my way right over! 🙂

Whoo hoo! I’m so glad you like the socks! They look like they are enjoying their time in sunny Alabama better than they enjoy Indiana. But the cookies would MUCH rather be back here with me. I think I’ll be making a cookie stop later today to give some more a good home.

The socks are divine looking! And do I understand you correctly to say that you CAN wash Koigu in the WASHER on cold??? Is that what you said? Be still my heart if thats so!!!!!!!!

The kitties look adorable. I need to come visit again soon so I can pet and play with them. And knit on the front porch!

The socks are gorgeous! I love love love Koigu. So much that I hoard it rather than knit with (Mr. C assures me I am allowed a few eccentricities). And the Margarita colorway…holy tequila I need me some of that!!!

Those purchases that one forgets about- the most dangerous, but the most fun! These are going to be exciting socks!

Okay, the white edging is INSPIRED. I can’t wait to see those socks.

Your Koigu pair looks great! I also have been warming up to the joys of subtle variegations lately. It can be hard to resist the beautiful colors of lots of variegation, but in the end it opens up a whole new world of pattern options to go with something a little less all over the spectrum.

By the way, your cats clearly have a rough life. Poor things.

There is NO deadline on the Duduza doll project – Joanne is going to collect them for awhile before sending up her big box…

Pretty socks. Lucky you. Those cookies sure do sound good. Do you have any left? Bet not.
    Those kitty’s look so comfortable.

    Un-mown grass? What un-mown grass? I don’t see any grass….

Mmm. Now I want chocolate chip cookies.
