That 7 Things Thing

My cousin’s (the one who graduated this week) Senior Ballet Recital was last night. What follows is the traditional ballerina and sock-in-progress camera phone shot.

maggie and the new sock

The sock is in her right hand. Use your imagination.

I didn’t knit during the recital, but I did knit all the way there, in the parking lot, at intermission and while waiting for our table to be ready for supper. I’ve got a little straw purse that I use as my incognito summer knitting bag. Of course, pulling a sock out of it at every opportunity sort of negates the incognito part.

the long wait for dinner

Don’t mock. I got to the heel.

You can blame Elizabeth and Darlene for this next bit.

7 Random Facts

  1. All the cats are named after First Ladies. Or in the case of William Henry, a president.
  2. I hate asparagus with a passion that rivals the heat of a thousand suns.
  3. I don’t like to order pizza on the phone. Or any kind of take-out. Someone else has to do it.
  4. In my life, I have lived in five places. I am counting college in this total.
  5. My house has 7 fireplaces. None of them work as fireplaces.
  6. My current bedtime reading is The Island of Dr. Moreau. I realized that I hadn’t read it (in spite of knowing the story) and went to the library specifically.
  7. I keep what is known as “farmer’s hours*.” That’s just how I roll.

As far as tagging 7 more people, I am going to be creative (my list of Untagged Imaginary Friends is rapidly dwindling): I tag those of you who are readers but have never left a comment. You know who you are. Go forth and participate in the meme on your own blog! Then leave a comment to let us know where you are so that we can visit.

I think you’re saying “don’t mock” to the wrong crowd. I don’t think it would occur to any of us to mock. We are all thinking, “How smart and efficient!” I am, anyway.

  2. Paula

Huh. I love asparagus. Darlene tagged me, and I had trouble coming up with 7 people. DH gets up several hrs before me.

yay for the birth of yarnmiracle.com

and uhm, straw bag or not there is nothing incognito about knitting in public. just sayin.

Thanks for participating! Our original coal burning fireplace isn’t working yet either. We’re going to have it checked out…one of these days!

  5. Melissa

I watched the Island of Dr. Moreau movie and to this day, that is the worst movie that I’ve ever sat all of the way through.

Hi there! I’m always happy to find new blogs. I wanted to tell you about Sam’s big red ball with the handle. I saw it first at a horse farm. Horses were playing with those balls. They used the handle and threw it around. Sam just bites into it, but Biko, ladylike, uses the handle! Later!

I like your new home, with it’s own pretty domain and everything!
I agree with Rachel, you’re saying “don’t mock” to the wrong crowd, because most of us are as guilty of knitting in public as you are 😉

  8. Tonni

Do you mean by “farmer’s hours” sunrise to sunset? If so, that works for me and my hubby! Most of our friends can’t believe we are up so early even on the weekends 🙂 Love your KIP shot – I would never mock…

I get up most mornings at 4 am. My X use to claim I wasn’t “normal” … but I’m happier than he was, LOL. I know people who don’t like broccoli or brussels sprouts … but you’re the first to say you hate asparagus. I just hate Lima beans! Eek!!

I ADORE your Feline Patriotism. Look! It is the Jefferson Memorial! Sorry, this never ceases to amuse me. Love your new home and very happy you are settling in. Telling us not to mock is just an invite, really. You are so darned cute though that mocking is tough!

I really find myself enjoying the Seven Things meme.

The Island of Dr. Moreau movie with Val Kilmer and Marlon Brando is one of the best bad movies ever. It has a Mini-Me, and the scene in which Kilmer mocks Brando is classic.

I have a fireplace that I don’t use, but just one.

No need to apologize for knitting in public. I do it all the time.
