To Jog or Not to Jog
Alrighty. Both cats are complete (and I have moved on to a dog and a cashmere bear). Creamsicle with a Joggless Jog and Butterscotch with seaming.
From the front, they look about the same.
I enjoyed knitting Creamsicle Tabby much more, and I think his shape is cuter. I don’t really mind seaming as an activity, but it made Butterscotch harder to stuff – especially given the way I finish the arms and legs. Creamsicle’s arms and legs have a decided curve to them where the joggless jog pulls at them and also a raised ridge where the jogless jog actually happens. Both heads were knit in the round.
You can really see the difference from the back.
I used Meg’s method on Creamsicle Kitty, and opted to do them all in the same place (it made more sense than a raised spiral around the toy’s middle). That method is also decribed very clearly here. There are other ways to make jogless stripes in the round, (my favorite is this one) but none of them work on a toy when the stripes are only two rounds wide.
So which is better: Butterscotch where the stripes match or Creamsicle where the shapes look better. And does anyone have any other ideas?

I like Creamsicle Kitty best, though both are perfectly adoreable.

Better? They are both adorable. I seem to be incapable of seeing the problems with either one. Don’t you hope that’s true for most? (I know I would)

How about using a self-striping yarn and thereby avoiding the whole problem?

I love both of them so can’t decide you say the one with the orange stripes was easier to knit and stuff so I would go with the easier one:)Hugs Darcy

I can’t decide either! But, is that the distinctive Tabby Cat “M” on each of their foreheads? Love that!!!

Cuteness: a tie.
Ease of construction wins the day!
I don’t mind seaming ether, but I like toys knit in the round for ease of stuffing, too.
I’ve found that sometimes you can use the pulling in of the jogless join to your advantage when you want some slight shaping, like a belly that’s a bit rounder than the back.

I think they are both really cute. And not sitting together like that who would ever know the difference. I’d say go with the one that makes you happyest.

I think they are both adorable!!! Me? I like the Orange one better, but I think that is more color than technique. I’d go with the easier finish.

They are both adorable so I say go with the one that is easier for you to do!

I love them both equally. Sorry.

I like the orange one. the first one best. He is more whimsical than the second. His stuffing is better and rounder. That’s my honest opinion!

I have to pick a favorite?! They’re both adorable. Both methods seem to work well, just different. If I were you, I would pick the easier one to knit. Or if you’re going to offer a pattern, the easier one to explain to other knitters.

Awww….I love them BOTH!! They should be sold as a set….how can they be parted?? Twins…with subtle differences.

I like the fact that the orange one has a little “backbone.”
They are both very very adorable.

Oh, who can say???? I’d like a whole litter of either! I noticed the tabby M as well! Did you do that intentionally?
