Ook.

Two monkeys didn’t take nearly as long as the bunnies! No strawberries to tend to this week.

Monkeys need friends.

I gave their arms and legs elbows and knees.

The tail knot is so he doesn’t forget. Something.

This is so much fun.

Next: an angora bunny, a watermelon bunny and then kitties!

But first I have to build a bed for the broccoli and tomatoes – the Garden Area hasn’t seen a tiller and the tomatoes will ship next week.

Rabbits Rabbits Rabbits

Waiting for pancakes.

The above trio represent many many hours of Chuck. Bless your heart, Hulu, you gave me the strength to reknit all the bodies and change the way I finished all the limbs halfway through. But I’m happy. Even happier now that they’ve had their portrait session.

The camera loves him.

It shouldn’t have taken two weeks to make three bunnies. I blame the delay on the strawberry plants. Strawberry plants that weren’t supposed to arrive until mid-March but showed up on February 20th. For the better part of last week, naps were spent constructing a raised bed (I hear they like good drainage). I got 40 out of 50 into the bed and a strawberry pot and planted the rest in one of my flower beds. I am fairly certain that strawberries in the flower bed will turn out to be a mistake. Let the record show.

I’m pleased with the rabbits. I’ve got them for sale on Etsy. We’ll just see how that goes.

I’ve got one other thing that I want to try with the arms and legs. I’m going to give it a try on the monkeys.

I love me some monkeys.

No Snow

Unlike most everybody else in Alabama*, we did not get snow yesterday. I’m jealous. I don’t want crazy Canadian winters with a blizzard every other week, but an inch or two that lasts a few hours wouldn’t kill you, Mother Nature.

Just sayin’.

*There aren’t enough words in my sentence to link to all the North Alabama folks – those are just the first ones I saw. Somebody had enough to make a snowman, but I can’t remember who or find the post.

Sweater? What Sweater?

Today, I did not build a planter for the strawberry plants that arrived in the mail (the company told me the ship date was the end of March). Today, I did not unload or load the dishwasher. I did not wash litter boxes. I did not write thank you notes or even thank you emails.

I’ve been slightly obsessed with the idea of an Etsy shop. Fuzzy Mitten has given permission to sell toys made from her patterns, so I’ve spent all week developing a sustainable unique version of the Easter Bunny that I wouldn’t get old after the third one. You know, just to see.

Today, instead of dishes and strawberries and cat hygiene, I knit Floppy Bunny Leg v6.0 and attached it.

His arms still aren’t long enough, but I think another inch will do it.

I’ve got a bunch of Blue Sky Organic Cotton. And I was thinking that stuffed with cotton batting, the critters would have a nice flop to them. I thought I might try a few pesticide-free bunnies. Just to see. That’s not a total waste of time right? You never know, someone might want one.

Cotton Tail

I got desperate to finish today so that I would have something to show for this week. Well, something besides this:

She wasn’t interested in her cake until we got her a fork.

I honestly can’t believe it has been a year.
