I have finished a cone of yarn.
15 CounterPain Squares and an empty cone.
This should really feel like an accomplishment. But I just look at the other 13 cones and think about the other 125 squares and it’s just not all that exciting.
I left something out in my knitting update the other day – but only because this is much better with a picture:
Square needles!
Becky mailed them just the other day and they are very cool. They are light and fit neatly into my pinky finger joint. The only thing to do now is determine their size. I am going to swatch on regular 8s and 9s and see which one more closely matches the swatch I am making on the square needles. Just for fun.
Also for fun:
Awww. William Henry, you’re so cute when you’re not chewing yarn.
Is that a hobnail dish I spy? I have several that belonged to my mother and grandmother and some are that very color blue.
William Henry is indeed adorable! Glad you like the needles! I need to get out of my rut and make some more of those. They were fun to make!
The counterpane WILL happen girl… just gotta believe!
Ohhh, the cones look like vanilla ice cream… mmm ice cream… WH is ever so handsome as always.
Oh WH you are so cute! I have an afghan that I’ve been making forever it seems. I won’t be excited until it’s done. 🙂
One cone down..well, that’s better than nothing I guess!
So glad to see William Henry!! And did you say only 13 more cones to go??? Oh My!!! Bless your heart!! LOL!!!
Square Needles!! Are they hard to knit with??? And I love the Fenton (?) bowl!!

One of the yarn shop owners showed Lynette those square needles because Lynette was having a hard time knitting. She said the square needles were made for people with arthr*tis.
Yay for being one cone down! I’ve never taken on a project that huge, but I guess you have to celebrate the small victories!
I think 15 is a big accomplishment. It’s 15 less you have to make…. Are you going to sew them together as you go or wait and do them all at once?
Go Emily, go Emily, go go go!!
WH is sooo cute!!!
Gee, square needles! What will we come up with next? Perseverence with the CounterPain. One day it will be done and you will feel so happily fulfilled. Or I hope you will. =)
Why square needles? What is the advantaged? I am not very bright and don’t understand.
Sorry to hear that the Epic CounterPain is revealing itself to be something of a slog. I’d say just knit it when you feel like it, and if you don’t have it finished until 2015, well, people will still need bedspreads in 2015.
WH is very cute and so small! Makes my cat look like a monster. A whole cone is a great achievement, go and do something great to celebrate the completion of each cone.
15 squares is a great start. Don’t look at the finish line, just keep knitting on this project whenever you are in the mood. It will be done someday and you’ll be ever so proud.
Thanks for the William Henry update.
I had to laugh at your discussion of needle sizes…

How’d your search/ordering go?
That is a milestone, but compared to the square needles, well, the square needles are pretty cool!
Square needles sound so intriguing!
Happy Halloween Em!
Dearest Emily, I am your pal. You can read all about my sock mishap on my blog in just a few days when you get your first package. But, I assure you, A small “Pre-gift” has been mailed , and the socks will follow in a few days…they must be properly prepared for your properly-prepared toes! I love loved knitting each of the three socks for you!
