Little stuff always makes me smile.
Little hats.
Snuggly Baby Hat, Interweave Knits (Summer 2004) in Wool Cotton
Little socks.
Infant Socks by Judy Ellis in Ruby Sapphire Pine Haven
Little kitties.
All six of the cats in miniature! Based on Barbara Prime‘s Tabby Kitty.
Their sweaters match their collars (and stocking tops): Betty – yellow, Abigail – green, Lady Bird – purple, Lucy – pink, Mamie – orange, William Henry – blue. Mom put their faces on after Christmas (whiskers were added on New Year’s Day).
Little cake.
That’s a salad plate. The cake is 4.5″ in diameter.
Up until my most recent trip to the bookstore, I had a terrible problem: I have a recurring urge to bake and eat a cookie. This doesn’t seem like much of a problem until you consider the other 3 dozen cookies that my recipes require me to bake and eat. See where I’m going with this? But I will never have that problem again thanks to Small-Batch Baking. All the recipes contained in this miraculous book make just a couple servings! Want a piece of cake? Try the Old-Fashioned Yellow Cake and top it with one of the great frostings (the frosting recipes only make a cup – enough for a tiny layer cake). Want a cookie? The recipes make half a dozen. The cinnamon roll recipe makes four rolls, the muffin recipes make two or three muffins, the mini breads, tarts and pies sound delicious (with pie crust recipes that make enough for just two pies). I am going to try them ALL!
I may try them all twice – the yellow cake was delicious.
All so sweet! Can’t wait to see the hat and socks in use. Can’t wait to see the kitties being hugged and clasped and waved about in chubby fingers and drooled on…..
And the cake, well, I can SOOOOO imagine the Gulliver-sized glass o’milk I’d chase it with!
Fun post.
Oh man I want a teeny cake right now.
Reminds me of the little tiny cakes from the Easy Bake Oven. I had one and my daughter had one (ovens). I’m sure the cake you made tasted better, but it reminded me of the fun we had. All the little things are precious, but I love the socks!
Everything is so cute, Emily! Oh yes, the only recipe I have tried from my Slow cooker cookbook is overnight steel cut oats. I love the fact they can be refrigerated and reheated
Those infant socks slay me. And phooey to kt for being the first to comment!!! (don’t really mean it but fun to say!) Looks like things are ramping up at Ivy Hall. Must get on the ball for Mini Miracle. Wish you were here or I was there.
Oooooohhhhh, I just love that basket of little kitties. You are SOO creative and will make the most wonderful Mom! Will you adopt me??
Everything is so sweet and adorable!
Oh all so pretty!! I especially love the basket of mini kitties!! How cute!!!!
Your little post just made me smile! :o)
Oh I love that basket of little kitties!
I’m thrilled to learn of this cookbook! My kids are grown and my dh doesn’t have a sweet tooth (he’s normal in other respects). Sometimes I get to craving cookies or cakes in the worst way (especially during “that” time of month), but I can never justify baking for only myself. Worse yet, I’m too tempted to eat it ALL myself. 😉
This book is going on my wishlist for sure!
All your baby knits are precious! Oh and thanks for the book link. This is intersting that someone actually put enought thought into revising recipes for small batches:)
Adorable kitties – just like their namesakes!
Small batch baking? Genius!
What a wonderful post, Emily! I am soooo going to get the small batch baking book! THanks for the review!
I am with Renna and Lynne and the others, have to have that cookbook, and your knitted items are totally adorable!!!
This fits perfectly with my cutting my carb intake in half thisyear. I am going to that sight right now. You are one smart cookie
Aaaw, everything’s adorable! Especially the tiny hat, it looks like an heirloom.
My Grandparents just put their cookies & things in the freezer if they only wanted a few, though. But I must admit that a bitty cake *is* appealing.
The kittens are precious & the little hat is so sweet, looks like something a baby would wear during a baptism or christening!
What adorable little knits you have been busy making.
That cook book is the best idea ever! I am so buying it. It would be perfect for us.
What cute wee baby things. And I’ll have to look for that book–what a great idea!
Mmm tiny cake. Sweet little hat too, meme. Can’t wait to see it in use.
I love all your tiny things. And I’m ready to make baby things in the new year, too!
awwww such cuteness! You’ve been busy lately!
You are so right! Little things do make us smile.
The cook book is the best and I use it often as my honey has a sweet tooth!.
Oh how I love that sweet little hat.
Too, too cute! All of it!
Not that your solution doesn’t sound like fun, but couldn’t you just bake a full batch of cookies and then freeze the rest? Then, next time you want a cookie, just zap it?
Wow, that book is brilliant! With just the two of us, we end up eating the whole cake over a week and we just don’t need to do that! It’s going on my wishlist right away.
Get your knitting in now- that first month there will be NO KNITTING going on. I’m still recovering from that first month! But now, in month 6 everything is WONDERFUL! You’re going to have such a fabulous time.
ummm … I have been where?? Good grief. Congratulations, Emily! Everything is adorable. I especially love the little basket of knitted kitties. Joy!
Perfect…baking dilemma solved. I always froze the leftover cookie dough. Thanks for sharing.
