Revenge of Dish Rag Tag’s Official pattern is now available as a PDF here and on Ravelry.
Knit with confidence. This is one of the most tested patterns in Yarn Miracle history.
He wants to share your candy!
There is plenty of time to knit a few for Halloween.
There is also one in my shop.
His body is worked in the round on DPNs, of course. It saves time. You need to know how to increase, decrease and work a yarn over. His legs are worked flat, the optional hanger is icord. As my patterns go, he is not at all fiddly and if you’ve been thinking “Hmm. Knitting a toy might be a fun thing to try!” Spider would be a good one to start with.
Spider Beside Her is available for free on Ravelry. If you don’t Ravel, he’s also on my Free Patterns page.
Ellie is not afraid of spiders.
Many thanks to Marcia for the super quick test knit!
I’ve been a little busy with a Treat.
Care to guess what’s next?
Or maybe it’s a Trick.
Free pattern coming soon!
The Etsy for Animals “Charity of the Month” for September, 2010 is Defenders of Wildlife. As my contribution, $1 from every Fox pattern sold on Etsy in September will be donated to this “national, nonprofit membership organization dedicated to the protection of all native animals and plants in their natural communities.” To find more items that benefit EFA’s Charity of the month and animals in general, try using our tags in the search box: team efa, team efa cotm.
Ready for a new Yarn Miracle?
Fox!
I need to make him one more time to double check the pattern and take a couple of in-progress pictures, then the pattern is ready for test knitters. Test knitters acquired! Thanks a bunch!
Ellie likes him.
I was going to get a picture where you could see the fox’s whole body and tail, but he is having his nap and I’m not taking any chances with waking Ellie. But I will show you what he looked like before he was yarn.
Spitting image.
There is such a thing as a 48-Hour Antarctic Film Contest. Following strict guidelines, the participating research stations have 48 hours to script, act, film and edit a five minute work of cinematic art. Requirements change each year so that no station can get a head start on their film. For 2010, the line “Has anybody seen my chicken?” had to be included in the dialog. I am sure you can see where this is going.
The British Antarctic Survey‘s entry, From Rothera with Love, is an action-packed thriller about a mad scientist’s attempt to take over the world. And his love for a Chicken (Chicken Chicken). Got your popcorn handy?

The chicken knitter, Ravelry Morganna, chronicles her completely alien (to me – 91F and thunderstorms this afternoon) lifestyle at Wholesome Fun at Home and Abroad. Sage and Onion (her finished chicken and rooster) can be found here.
Twos into tens and tens into twenties because four make a block.
Mom says I crochet like I knit. Whatever that means.
Don’t worry, I have a lot of help.
Hi, Mamie.
Marcia Louise was kind enough (to me and her granddaughter) to knit up a hive full of bees. She made a few changes as she worked, and I am SO in love that I need to make another set for Ellie!
Look at the Queen Been in her little pink skirt!
My favorite addition is the i-cord handle on the beehive – that’s just inspired! Once in, the bees aren’t likely to get out on their own, so why not tote them around in a hive bag? My guess is that instead of drawing up the top of the hive, she (and please correct me if I’m wrong, Marcia Louise) continued in i-cord until the handle was long enough and tied it off. Really nice. I love the color changes too, their soft little faces are a great contrast to the stripes.
Marcia Louise also noted a couple errors in the pattern. Mostly stitch count mistakes, nothing that will keep you from finishing if you don’t want to download again, but the pattern is corrected on both Yarn Miracle and on Ravelry. She absolutely earned her honey! Thank you so much!
Both versions of the Itty Bitty Birdies are now available for download as part of the Knit Picks Independent Designer Program! For the moment, Knit Picks is the only place the birdie patterns are available – and they are just $1.99 each.
I’ve even got a profile! Makes me feel all legitimate. And really really silly excited!
I had great time with this project from start to finish. Many many thanks to my test knitters. If you (the Birdie Test Knitters) don’t have copies of both finished Birdie PDFs in your in-boxes by tomorrow evening, please let me know (I was having server issues this morning).
It’s time for a freebie.
A Free Bee! Get it? I am such a funny girl.
The latest from Yarn Miracle is a delightful Honey Bee Play Set with Hive! The pdf can be found here or on Ravelry.
The hive can hold three bees.
Have you heard about the disappearing honey bees? Over the last three years, one in three honey bee colonies has died in the United States. Other countries are experiencing similar losses. This poses a real threat to the 1/3 of our food supply that relies on honey bees for pollination. For more information on Colony Collapse Disorder, check your PBS listings for Silence of the Bees, visit Help the Honey Bees (Haagan-Daz’ site) or Google.
While you read, why not knit a few?
